Up and running in 30 seconds

Launch Hotstash. The 🔥 flame icon appears in your menu bar. No dock icon — it stays out of your way.

Copy anything as usual with ⌘C. Hotstash silently captures every copy.

Press your hotkey (default ⌘⇧V) to open your clipboard history panel from any app.

Browse & select with arrow keys or mouse. Press Return to copy, then ⌘V in your target app to paste.

Use shortcuts ⌘1–⌘9 to instantly paste any of the first 9 items without even opening the panel.

FAQ

Common questions

Why doesn't the app appear after launch?

Hotstash is a menu bar app — it has no dock icon. After launching, look for the 🔥 flame icon in the top-right menu bar. Click it or press your hotkey to open the panel.

How do I change the global hotkey?

Click the ⚙️ gear icon in the clipboard panel → Settings → General. You can record any key combination as your hotkey.

How do I pin an item?

Select any item in the panel and click the 📌 pin button in the toolbar. Pinned items appear under the Pinned tab and are never auto-deleted. Drag them to reorder.

How do I use transforms?

Select an item, then click the Transform ▾ button in the toolbar. Pick a transform from the list — Hotstash applies it and copies the result instantly. Requires Hotstash Pro.

How do I unlock Hotstash Pro?

Open the clipboard panel. After your trial expires, a banner appears at the bottom with an "Unlock Hotstash" button — tap it to purchase via the App Store. You can also go to Settings → About.

How do I restore a previous purchase?

Go to Settings → About → tap "Restore Purchase". Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Where is my clipboard data stored?

All clipboard history is stored locally on your Mac using UserDefaults. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or shared with any server or third party.

How do I clear my history?

Click the 🗑 trash icon in the panel toolbar to clear all non-pinned items. Pinned items are always preserved. You can also delete individual items with the ⌫ delete button.

Does Hotstash capture passwords from password managers?

Password managers like 1Password and Keychain use a private pasteboard channel that Hotstash does not read. Your passwords are not captured.
